All flights delayed

I didn't post for a while, I just couldn’t find the time to do so. But today I decided to drive to the old airfield. This very same airfield was used by Edvard Rusjan and his brother Josip Rusjan. Edvard is considered the Slovenian pioneer and airplane constructor. I could be lying but I think this was the same airfield Edvard made the first engine powered flight in 1909, that’s 6 years after the Wright brothers. Funny enough Edvard designed bicycles and loved to cycle when he was younger (The Wright brothers owned a bicycle shop). Now I knew that the building with the old control tower was abandoned for quite some time, and today I got myself to take a closer look.

First look of the building.

After I had enough of the outside, I decided to take a look on the inside. Some doors were missing so it wasn't hard to get in.

Green mold on the ceiling.

The green room.

Very natural curtains.

The oval office? :D

Pizza anyone?

A bathtub in the middle of, what I presume was a bar or a restaurant part of the building.

A metal spiral staircase to the old control tower.

I was a bit disappointed at the top, was hoping for some old electronics.

The spiral staircase from the top.

Old chair next to a chimney on the roof.

Now imagine my disappointment when I realize that this 5 meter tall statue is not depicting Edvard Rusjan but an Italian war hero, Prince Amedeo, Duke of Aosta.

Ruin with a view

I was on vacation when I accidentally stumbled upon this lovely restaurant.  Equipped only with my phone camera, but I think I still managed to capture some nice pics.

Saw this strange looking structure in the blistering sun.

The entrance kind of reminds me of the Jurassic Park building.

The entrance was locked so I went round back.

There was no fence out back and no locked gates. But I did find this lovely terrace.

A bar maybe?

I presume this was the terrace stage.

The place was quite big, rooms were everywhere.

Another large place/terrace on the other side of the locked front gate.

Another bar. Broken mirrors everywhere, somebody is going to have a lot of misfortune in their life.

Behind the bar was probably the kitchen.

A view from the bar.

Delivery bay.

Behind these bushes the path takes us outside again.

A Giant gazebo with a small DJ stage on the side.

Oh, did I mention that the whole complex is sitting on top of a "cliff" and has an amazing view of the ocean.
Somebody dragged this piece of an old armchair here to enjoy it.
So did I, enjoy the view I mean. Couldn't find another armchair :D

Abandoned Mansion in the forest

The weather is still acting funny and I've been busy lately, but today I finally took some pictures.

The front gate.

The side gate.

Under a tree, nearby the road.

View from a far.

There was a very big bamboo forest nearby.

First view of the Mansion up close.

The sound of crows was unsettling.

A lot of stones like this were around. Everything was done with precision.

A chimney fell off the roof.

The front door.

The back door, which was surprisingly open.

Up a few steps and I'm welcomed by this lovely view.

Very large fungi growing on the wall.

Some medical files on the floor.

There was a massive amount of rooms inside, but everything looked in very bad shape.

There were some creepy sounds coming from the dark basement. Still went downstairs.

These were pictures with flash, believe me it was a dark basement.

These guys were chilling in the attic.

I woke some of them up, accidentally.

This case was on the roof. There were some medical vials in it.

There were a lot of them in this box.

And yes, of course I went to the tower.

The inside of this tower was absolutely beautiful.

My favorite for last, as always. :)

This neo-Islamic mansion is really a one of a kind piece. I usually like old and abandoned places, this is the first one I would really like to see in its prime. It's a real shame it's not being better looked after.
